News from Regions 5, 15E and 14
Young Quilters in Region 5 have been busy developing their skills and building confidence by tacking block designs donated by Lorraine Shergold. They plan to each make a quilt by the end of this year! Their quilts will be 40" to 60" 'squareish'. So far they've made four blocks each and are building skills at rotary cutting, 1/4 inch seam allowance and seam matching. YQs have also been making individual projects such as a lovely animal fabric wall hanging, a robot cushion, simpler block quilts and wax crayon pictures. Well done everyone!
Young Quilters in Region 15E have caught the quilting bug! They have been meeting at Beamish and Shipley Art Gallery for workshops and after making sampler quilts last year, have decided they want to make another! Two new sewing machines have been purchased through funds raised from selling Joan Lee's stash of sewing delights. Two more sewing machines have been donated by Ann Martin and Maureen Cunningham. So now they have four sewing machines to get cracking on those new quilts!
Region 14 held a workshop at the Quilt Museum and Gallery on Saturday 15 June - see them busy creating in the photos below.
Thank you to everyone who is supporting YQs in the regions and to all those YQs attending workshops! If you have news to report from your region, please contact us at yqpl@quitlersguild.org.uk.
