Group YQ quilts at the Festival of Quilts
Thank you to the Young Quilters and Schools who entered the 'In My Garden' Challenge!
The Flossie Quilters worked with Region 11 YQ Rep Sarah Gravestock to make a beautiful butterfly quilt using batik fabrics and embellishments - see photo right. The patches of this quilt were made by: Tasmin Brooks, Natasha Burton, Karis Dudley-Hands, Annie Morrison, Isabelle Shurvinton and. Mathilda Ward.
Mathilda said this is what her butterfly is thinking: '“As I fly up into the sky I admire the views of the pretty gardens and the birds that fly past me.”
Cupernham Junior School in Region 3 entered the quilt 'Dream, Believe, Achieve' pictured below. The students drew their inspiration and ideas about gardens individually, then learned the techniques of quilting and embellishment as they went.
