Congratulations to the YQs who entered the 'In My Garden' Challenge!
Thank you to all of the Young Quilter members who entered the 'In My Garden Challenge' at the Festival of Quilts! You can click on the photos of their quilts below and find out what inspired them.
A special congratulations to Millie (Region 10)and Dorothea (Region 6) who won 1st and 3rd Prizes - here's what inspired their quilts:
Dorothea - 'I got the idea from the Swallows and Amazons book, Pigeon Post, where the children have to camp in an orchard, and apples fall on them.'
Millie - 'Around the is time of year I can always see rabbits in the garden from my bedroom window. Whilst I enjoy watching them nibble at the plans my parents do not!'
And here's what other YQs had to say about their quilts:
Catherine, Region 8 (pictured right) - 'The inspiration for my quilt came from tidying up my fabric box, as I put my jelly rolls together I saw a colorful flower appear on the table. It reminded me of colorful flower beds in the gardens I have visited at National Trust Houses with Mum and Dad.'
Rhys, Region 11 - 'The tree house is my favourite place in my garden and I have put things that I can see when in my tree house, flowers, chickens etc.'
Grace, Region 3 - 'I have taken the ideas for my quilt from my present garden and my old garden in Swindon. I have made a dream garden from favourite elements from the 2 gardens: my pets, bird feeder and Gypsy caravan from now and rocker, pond, fruit, trees, flowers and arch from old.'
