At the PlainStitch Workroom

PlainStitch have kindly donated lots of colourful fabric to Young Quilters! Thank you!

The PlainStitch Workroom is in Wendover, Bucks (Region 7). Kids start with the popular Miss Stitch classes on a Saturday morning aged 7-10 where they learn hand sewing, basic machine sewing and lots of skills of needle use and embellishment. At 11 years they move on to our Miss Stitch Seniors classes where they take on more complicated makes from pencil cases to cushions and they also have the option of joining Teens Quilt Club to learn to make a quilt.

This term PlainStitch are working on basic patchwork construction, learning how to use a rotary cutter safely and accurately, using a 1/4" foot and sewing and pinning accurate seams. They are all making a teen sized lap quilt and this week they are hand quilting, learning how to make their stitches regular, how to bury a thread and tie a quilters knot. Next month they will learn how to make and sew a double fold french binding to finish their quilts ready for summer camping trips and hanging out on the lawn all summer!
